Originally CTR worked as intended, isolating the office program s from other programs, including other Office programs, allowing you to run them side by side on the same computer. But when was released MS got "cute" and " improved " the installer to add the check and error message mentioned in the other question.
When was first released I know for sure there was a problem trying to install Visio and Project on computers with any Office It took them over a year to come up with a working fix for that specific problem.
