I am unable to change desktop background after recently installing it. I have done it before on another system but it does not save changes and returns back to that simple flower i.

Right click and set as background does not work either and so goes for themes. I can't change them even! This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.

We have a set standard wallpaper in the company that changes from time to time via group policy and a. We usually just save over the. This works fine on all of our machines except the windows 8 machines. They all have a wallpaper that was valid at some point in time, but the wallpaper is not the same on each of the machines either.

When i go to the desktop wallpaper settings in control panel the preview is displaying the correct wallpaper that should be displayed but the desktop does not correlate with what is shown. If i delete the file, it is automatically recreated after a few seconds, if i replace the file with a new jpg of the same name the wallpaper then updates to whatever picture i placed there. If anyone knows how to assist it would be greatly appreciated.

I believe this is due to the difference in how Windows 8 sets the wallpaper on login. Note: Even if Windows 10 is not activated, you will be able to right-click on any Picture and choose Set As Desktop Background option in the contextual menu. In case of computers running Windows Home Edition, changing of Desktop Background can be enabled or disabled using the Registry Editor.

Right-click on Start button and click on Run. Restart your computer to apply this change and see if you are now able to change Desktop Background. If you have Professional Edition of Windows 10, it is likely that changing of desktop background has been disabled in Group Policy Editor.
